Y-Yo is excited to announce that our Director, Helen Coates, has become a member of the Natural Perfumers Guild.
A consortium of international perfumers, associates, suppliers and enthusiasts, the Natural Perfumers Guild accredits those fragrance brands that "use botanically-based aromatics and are dedicated to the alchemy and hands-on methods of time-honored traditions used to create natural fragrances".
Having been assessed by the Head Committee of the Natural Perfumers Guild in the US, Y-Yo fragrances now join an impressive, select list of global fragrance houses. Look out for this accreditation symbol on all Y-Yo fragrances:

Product focus of the month: Ethical beauty for the Australian Green Goddess
Australian Green Goddesses Get Glam!
Helen Coates and Rebecca George, directors of Y-Yo Australia and Miss Green’s Wardrobe, have teamed up to give Australian Green Goddesses, Ethical Beauty for the Australian Green Goddess, a chic and comprehensive ethical beauty directory that supports Australian-made cosmetics.
This petite pocket sized beauty directory comes complete with the product and contact information for over 100 ethical Australian beauty brands, as well as tips and DIY beauty secrets from Helen and Miss Green. The book is fabulously finished with unique illustrations by Ruth Wang (Ruth was named as one of the world’s most exciting female artists in Yen Magazine’s 2009 annual art book Curvy 6).
Each brand featured in Ethical Beauty for the Australian Green Goddess is kind to the environment, animals and perhaps most importantly, to you and your family. With easy to read tables covering organic, paraben-free, sulphate-free, petrochemical-free, cruelty-free and vegan friendly brands as well as designated sections for face, body, hair, make up, baby, child and men, it is now easier then ever for Australian Green Goddesses to find ethical, Australian cosmetics for their everyday beauty regime.

FAQ of the month
What is the difference between ethical beauty products and conventional beauty products?
Ethical beauty products are those which have been developed without harm to, or exploitation of, humans, animals or the natural environment. If you take a look at the websites of any of the brands listed in Ethical Beauty for the Australian Green Goddess, you will see that these companies have made the choice to offer customers safe, high quality products often based on a personal belief or set of values that encompass respect for the rights of humans and animals, and the protection of our precious planet. Monetary profit is not the primary goal of these companies. In fact many give a percentage of profits to worthy charities in which they believe. In contrast, conventional beauty brands are primarily interested in the bottom line. Which is OK in itself, it’s just that it is often at the expense of people, animals and the environment. The synthetic chemicals in their formulations are inexpensive so as to maximise profits, many have not been tested for long term human safety, animals are used to test their short term safety, and their environmental impact is detrimental.
